Gladiators Seek Another Win When They Host Steel At The Q

MATCHUP: The Cleveland Gladiators (2-4) kick off Week 7 of the 2016 AFL season vs. the Portland Steel (0-5) when they host "I Heart Cleveland Night" on Monday, May 16th at 8:00 pm at Quicken Loans Arena.. Monday’s game is the first of two meetings between Cleveland and Portland this season with the Gladiators set to take on the Steel at Portland’s Moda Center in Week 12 on Saturday, June 18th at 10:00 pm.

LAST TIME OUT – Last week, the Gladiators scored 20 unanswered points to register a 41-40 comeback win over the Jacksonville Sharks at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday. Cleveland was led by Northeast Ohio native Arvell Nelson’s 221 passing yards and six total touchdowns (3 rush). Collin Taylor extended his franchise-record stretch of 22 consecutive games with a touchdown catch by hauling in six receptions for 101 yards and two TD’s.

GLADIATORS PLAYERS TO WATCH – Nelson’s 92.1 QB Rating currently ranks fifth in the AFL, while Taylor’s 13 touchdown receptions rank fifth league-wide as well. WR Larry Beavers has excelled in the return game this season, currently ranking second in the league with 564 total return yards and one kick return for a touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, DL Collin Keoshian’s two sacks rank tied for fourth-most in the AFL and DB Joe Powell’s four interceptions are tied for second-most league-wide this season.

STEEL PLAYERS TO WATCH – Portland wide receivers Tom Gilson (42 receptions, 393 yards, six touchdowns) and Jared Perry (33 receptions, 394 yards, six touchdowns) have been steady while DB Terrence Mitchell’s 248 kick-return yards rank fifth-most league-wide. Steel K Ernesto Lacayo’s 17 points are tied for the sixth-most registered by an AFL kicker this season.
