Gladiators Assigned Former All-Arena DB Kelvin Rodgers

The Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League were assigned former Second-Team All-Arena DB Kelvin Rodgers on Wednesday, the team announced.

Rodgers, 28, enters his fifth season in the AFL, his first with the Gladiators. Rodgers last played in 2014 with the San Antonio Talons, where he earned career-highs in tackles (72), pass break-ups (18), and interceptions (12). Rodgers was named Second-Team All-Arena for his performance throughout the 2014 season.

For his career, Rodgers has tallied 196 tackles, 36 pass break-ups, 18 interceptions, and four fumble recoveries in his four seasons playing for the Talons, Chicago Rush, Milwaukee Mustangs, and Georgia Force.

Prior to turning pro, the 6’1”, 180 lb. Rodgers played collegiately at Minnesota State University where he appeared in 45 games throughout his career, totaling 126 tackles and five interceptions. Rodgers departed the program as its all-time leader in kick returns (88), kick-return yards (2,255), and punt return yards (770).

In a corresponding move, the Gladiators also placed DB Joe Powell on injured reserve.
