Solon RB Thomas Wilks Named Week 10 Impact Player
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators, presented by Unique Home Solutions, announced today that junior running back Thomas Wilks of Solon High School has been named the Week 10 High School Impact Player of the Week for his standout performance in the Comets 51-43 win over Medina on Friday night.
Wilks rushed for 251 yards on the night, with three of his six rushing touchdowns coming from 41, 49, and 54 yards out to help Solon finish the regular season at 9-1. With the victory, the Comets solidified the number one seed in Region 1 heading into the start of the OHSAA Division 1 High School State Playoffs on Friday night.
“Thomas has worked very hard to be our leading rusher this season,” said Solon Head Football Coach Jim McQuaide. “He has very good vision with the ability to read openings while displaying outstanding quickness to get through the hole and run away from people.”
For winning, Wilks will receive an award recognizing his accomplishment, an appearance in-game at a 2017 Cleveland Gladiators home game, a visit at practice by Defensive Backs Coach Dominic Jones, as well as a $500 grant towards the Solon High School football program.
